We left Salt Lake City and drove along Hiway 6 headed to Moab. The first half of the drive is spectacular with amazing scenery through the mountains. It would be great train chasing because of the twisty track which is all double tracked - if only there were trains!! We stopped at Tie Fork, a beautiful rest area that Steve had recommended. It has a round house and turntable with lots of free brochures in the washroom building. From there we leave the mountains and enter the last half of the drive which is very dull with a flat straight hi-way and repetitive scenery.
